Our client's medical history showed that her unborn baby had a one out of four chance of being born with a rare metabolic disease known as methylmalonic academia. This disease could have not only been prevented with the proper pre-natal tests, but could have been treated had post-natal tests been conducted. Even after the baby displayed numerous symptoms suggestive of the disease, the physicians failed to test for it. This baby suffers from brain damage, cerebral palsy and seizures. A $6,600,000 settlement was agreed upon. |
